Finale Week
This was our final INTRICT week before the Final Exam.
Sir Oli explained to us a brief information about our subject next term (if we pass INTRICT) which is ORGMGNT which stands for Organizational Management. He told us in advance that we should ask our parents if they know a company needing an IS. And we should be in a group of 3, a group of our choice. This time, I won't let the incident during the making of the term paper to happen again where my groupmates were slackers and had to be spoonfed with tasks. This time, ayoko nang grupong di nagtatrabaho. I want a group that I can get along with, is reliable, and cooperative. Ofcourse we should be able to agree on specific terms and plans in the least possible amount of time, para walang delay. The group we will be choosing will be the group we will be working with for the whole term for our ORGMGNT subject.
We were also told that what's unique about ICTM students is that they have defense every term. So come, second and third year, we must already get used to defending and reporting. Wala na dapat Mahiyain.
Sir Oli also made us go on a Friday to give us a bonus test para bumawi sa term paper namin. Because the passing was 70 and the highest was 72 and the lowest was 32. Sana di grupo ko yung 32. It was about the Organizational Units thingy and it was hard.
So it was my first time that I studied for one subject for 4 days straight (from Saturday to Tuesday). I wasn't able to read the last chapter pero the TODO PUYAT MODE and the massive wasting of a lot of papers to print the whole reviewer was worth it. I found the test to be err... OKAY LANG (except for the Sales thingy part). I was even able to answer the bonus questions with ease. Akala ko tapos na ko! Wala na toh! Now I'm sure I'll pass INTRICT! Sayang naubusan ako ng Upperbox tix sa ADMU-DLSU game! Now I'll have to go to Ticketnet early on September 1 but for now, TODO focus ko muna for CCSALGE Finals on Friday.

As a punishment for getting negative points on the Database Exercise we had the previous week each group... MUST DANCE!

Every ICTM block must dance. I think Sir Oli mentioned that only one group in the whole bacth won't dance. In short, ALL but that group danced. Were given choices of which to dance, the following songs were:

It was that day that I caught a fever. Nagpadala ako sa school. Kung kelan pa masama pakiramdam it had to be the day of the dance. This is where I sacrificed my health
Me: Sir pano yan? May lagnat ako!
Sir Oli: Okay lang yan kahit umupo ka nalang at manood
Me: (Nag-isip ng malalim) SIR SAYAW NALANG AKO! AYOKO IWANAN GRUPO KO SA ERE!
Na-guilt trip ako hahaha...
Here are the things I liked to share about the dance:
- Kreeno the best. It was funny seeing him trying to catch up to his group.
- Si Quino IDOL! Magaling sumayaw at mangwarta ng pera! hahahaha
- Jet and Patrick looked like twins that day
- Ang lupet sumayaw nina Alvin at AC! Todo hataw! Astig!
- For the first time, I danced with a fever. I sucked in dancing cause Mark's moves were hard and I was sick.
- Sina Kim, Cesz, at Kris nag miniskirt! Kami ni Mark and Kevin: jacket, slacks, at cap lang! hahahahaha
- Nakaka-LSS yung mga kanta. Lalo na yung Forever by Chris Brown
Database, Storage, And The Y2K Conspiracy
Monday:
As an introduction to Databases, We were group into 6 or 7 members randomly by counting. we were all given an exercise pretending to be consultants for a certain company. He gave us a list of Cars: the brands, the number manufactured, the number sold, the sales each year for every brand, and the cities they sold in. We were given questions to gather certain data such as how many cars were sold during a certain, What brand of cars made the most money in a year, What cities did were certain car brands dominant and how many were sold there, etc. Each question must be completed in 5 minutes. We we did all our best with our full cooperation but sadly, no group was perfect. We had less time to do stuff and our reports were inaccurate. We all incurred negative points.
Then Sir Oli showed us an example of a database system with query. He explained to us that this System does the same job we did. Only, it releases reports in less than a minute and are incredibly accurate because there are no man made errors, IBA NA TALAGA TECHNOLOGY!
Wednesday:
This is the day where we focused on the topic of Storage Devices, but first Sir Oli made an ending story to finish our topic about databases. He made us recall the Y2K issue that was feared during the Millenium's arrival.
Dito ko na nalaman yung totoong issue ng Y2k. Akala ko end of the world yun eh as in gugunaw na mundo sa year na toh, literally. It was actually a big problem for Programmers and Database Admins because the year will become 2000 and the numbers will be zeroes which will cause a very FATAL logical errors because systems that do a formula for their reports that require the year: such as banks, offices, accounting firms etc. will cause an unreasonable and inaccurate data. Programmers had to do massive re-programming of their Math codes to avoid the zeroes from causing a worldwide chaos. Ofcourse, nobody would want their sales to be zeroes or the amount of their bank accounts to be zero. La Salle faced this problem too, they didn't want all the ID Numbers of future students to become all 00000000 and so on.
Programmers started to act immediately since 1992. An 8 year preparation to counter the Y2k Conspiracy. Sir Oli even told us that many programmers didn't have a vacation during new year's eve because the programmers and Database Developers had to observe what will happen to the functionality of their system when the clock strikes 12. Luckily there are countries that conquered the Y2K issue but there were unfortunate countries who didn't. The Philiipines successfully evaded the Y2k. Natalo pa natin Australia, which failed to beat Y2K.
OKAY BACK TO STORAGE DEVICES, One of the interesting things I learned was the sizes of floppy disks. Floppy disks before were the sizes of envelopes then they gotten smaller and smaller till they were no longer used and new storage devices were made. But as time goes on, the storage devices' capacity increases but the size decreases from a enveloped size floppy disk that can store only bytes to palm-fit flash disk that can store Gigabytes of files.

The Term Paper and My RELIABLE(?) Group
I think this will be more of a personal story than informative. GOTTA PUT MY ANGER OUT
This was one of my hell weeks. Monday, we were told to do a term paper about our field trip in Makro the previous week. 5 Chapters about how their System goes and we will be a group of 4. Those 4 memebrs in a group will be the same as the group during our Cocojuice Analysis Test. And the deadline was.... WEDNESDAY!
This was the week were I really was irritated with my group! Why? It was a Tuesday, we had to do the term paper ASAP at GUSTO NILA MUNANG MAG DOTA SA SHERWOOD! FINE! Pinagbigyan ko sila dahil promise nila isang oras lang! Sumama ako sa kanila so I wouldn't have a difficult time contacting them. Duh! Then after that di na sila tumigil. I was really Irritated! Nag Bilyar pa sila at naglaro nung shooting arcade machine sa Sherwood. While the other groups were already starting with theirs, I was already boiling my blood irritated at my groupmates laxing at a critical time.
After that there was only little time left till our Lab, my groupmates went to the labs and was that they were full, what did they do? TUMAMBAY MUNA! WHAT A SOLUTION! I was really iritated, I left them during that time went to the Conserv where my other blockmates and are actually DOING THEIR WORK. I told them my "Maala Mo Kaya" quality story and decided to help me do my Term Paper till Lab time comes.
It was Lab, Luckily one of my groupmates was able to finish his assigned chapter, chapter 1 which he started last night.
To make the long story short they were able to do their work but I had to massive improvement because what they did wasn't really considered a chapter. Half of the class was still awake at until 5am and my groupmates slep at about 12! WOW GALING! I WAS SABAW COMPLETING THE TERM PAPER TILL 4:30. They did was only minimal. May isa diyan seven sentences lang assigned chapter niya!
We were suppose to do chapter 2 altogether since it was the hardest but hell I had to do it myself!
Anyways our guess was that Makro had the ff. departments:
- Accounting
- Inventory and Purchasing
- Sales
- Marketing
- Human Resources
- Information Technology
Are You In or Out?
"An input and an output can never be separated. They must always be together for them to function"In this week of our INTRICT meeting we tackled on Input devices.
An Input device is anything that can enter a data into a computer or any other electronic output device. Such examples are a keyboard in which the data you enter is text, A computer mic is also an input device because it also enters data in the form of sound, A PC video camera (more popular as Webcam) is also an input device that enters data such as video, A digital camera also enters data such as pictures, and much much more devices are existing in this technologically evolving world.
As a starter, Sir Oli made us watch a video about the electronic voting (or e-voting) scheme which will be experimented on the ARMM elections. Then he discussed about two possible input devices the government is planning to implement on the ARMM electronic elections, It could be either the DRE (Direct Reading Electronic) or the Optical Mark Reader (OMR).
1. The DRE is a proposed e-voting device which makes voters select their candidates by using a touch screen technology. When the voter has made it's vote, he/she will just have to press a button and wait for a small paper to print out of the DRE. That paper contains whoever he/she voted then he/she just needs to drop the small paper in the ballot box before exiting the precinct.

2. The OMR is another proposed e-voting device scans light patterns on paper. These papers are similar to when we took our college entrance test or diagnostic exams. We shade our answer and our paper will be "electronically read". The OMR is the one that read our sheets. The process on voting will be that voters will get an answer sheet containing choices of candidates they wants. They just need to shade their choice of candidate and when their done voting, they will just give to the election officials they're sheet and the officials will put it in the ballot box. When canvassing comes, the officials just have to enter the answer sheets into the OMR.
Advantages of e-voting:
- Reliable - The chances of cheating can diminished. BEAT THAT CORRUPT OFFICIALS! Although this won't be reliable for OMR.
- Speed of data capture improves - Devices like the DRE can lessen processing time. It can even abolish the process of Canvassing, which can be a possible loophole for cheating
- Accurate and Correct - With e-voting, the device makes sure that the user voted a valid candidate. Because Filipinos love "Kalokohan", they would put names that are not on the candidates' list.
- Completeness - e-voting makes sure that the voter has completed all the necessary items to be answered. Many Filipinos leave many blanks on the voting sheets causing imbalance in vote counts for candidates.
- WOW I LIKE IT - Because of their user-friendliness, voters understand the convenience of e-voting.
Disadvantages:
Every Advantage has got it's competing counterpart, the Disadvantages (Most of them though counter the efficiency of DRE):
- The DUGYOT Factor - There are many dugyots in the country. Dugyot meaning unhygienic. This is a big threat for DRE devices. There's a greater possibility that the DRE will end up KADIRI. Many would not care and just press a button, after they pick their noses or wiped their asses. YUCK! What about those pressing the DRE machine? The touch screen's now full of booger and other personal dirt! Eeew... Better bring gloves and either an alcohol or sanitizer when the government decides to use this one. In fact, mag benta ka ng hygiene tools during elections. KIKITA KA!
- Disability Considerations - What about those with disabilities like a broken arm or hand? They are going to have a hard time. The same thing goes for the old folks. They won't really get to manipulate technology as easy as us.
"You can't teach an old dog new tricks"
- Cost and Life of Device - It is a fact that devices like the DRE won't last a day. When election ends, the DRE most likely are now dirty and destroyed. Because there are some that press really hard that it increases the possibility of getting broken plus, the Dugyot factor can be relaative with this disadvantage. The governement should also consider the number of people to vote and how long would it take for e-voting to complete the process. IMAGINE, how many DRE devices would the government supply for each precinct? How many voters are registered per Precinct? And how many precincts are there in the Country? THAT'S A BIG FINANCIAL CRISIS.
- Environmental Capability - Safety and Security of the devices is a must. Places like Basilan or NPA dominated areas are a great risk to place e-voting devices.
- Amount of Data to be stored - Data Storage is a big problem for e-voting devices. Would you just imagine the number of candidates running for a position, the number of positions there are, and the number of candidates each voter must vote. A party list for example, has an estimate 3000 parties running every elections, Fit that in a DRE or an OMR Sheet! This might make the DRE have a VEEEERRY LONG SCROLLBAR, and the OMR Sheets might become Paperback books! hahahahaha

The Ultimate Battle: The Systems Analyst and The Coco Juice Crisis
We were told by Sir Oli to form a group of 4 members. For me, I'd rather get my seatmates than to choose anyone else (I had my lesson learned on selecting group mates haha). In that case, my group mates were Marion, Kreeno, and Gab.
Sir Oli gave us an exercise/test to train us to be good Systems Analyst and what better way to test our critical thinking ability and problem-solving skills but to analyze a fictional crisis that's going on with a fictional Cocojuice making company.
The Problem: The Cocojuice company was doing good in business for years until:
1.The sales of their Cocojuice went down because not much customers were buying their product any longer.
2. Their Coco supply easily gets spoiled and the amount of Cocojuice that didn't sell also gets spoiled. Thus, increasing spoilage rate to much worse number
3. Now they need your skills to handle the situation and help the company get back up on it's feet.
After minutes of analyzing the problem and asking the manager questions that might aid in handling the situation, none of us got the exact answer. I wasn't saying all groups are wrong, the majority of our answers were correct but none of them are EXACT and STRAIGHT TO THE POINT in getting the problem to be solved.
Sir Oli mentioned a possible solution that might get rid of the crisis quickly.
First, he mentions to us that a Systems Analyst must have proper knowledge of the business functional units. Having to know the units well and how to deal with them is an advantage for a Systems Analyst to solve a problem.
Apparently, that must work together to resolve the situation: Sales and Distribution
Distribution - Responsible for delivering the products and receiving ordered raw materials from suppliers
SOLUTION: Since Sales are in charge of selling the Cocojuice, they must know the quantity they must only sell to prevent spoilage. Distribution are only in charge of contacting the supplier for delivery of materials, in that case, the coconuts. The thing is that the Distribution has no knowledge of how to handle the spoilage issues. Sales and Distribution should cooperate with each other, a system must be made between the two units. Sales should know how many coconuts must they only need and they shoul regularly inform this to the Distribution. The Distribution should ensure that they are able to contact the supplier and inform them the amount (as given by sales) of coconuts they must only deliver. With Sales able to give Distribution the quantity to be ordered and Distribution able to inform the supplier of the quantity to be delivered, Spoilage issues become a threat no longer.
As for why they don't sell much, the reason is that the Cocojuice company now has a competitor in their industry. The Systems Analyst no longer has this problem covered up, it is now an outside issue and it's up to the company this time to decide on how to beat the existing competition.
Information + System
So first we all should know what a System is. A System is a set of components that interact to achieve a common goal
An Information System has the following elements:
1. Hardware

2. Software

3. Data

4. People

5. Procedures
Therefore an Information System is a collection of hardware, software, data, people, and procedures that work together to produce quality information.
Now we all know those are the 5 elements of an Information System
BUT WAIT! WE ARE FORGETTING SOMETHING!
There is a missing link here. A 6th element. An Information System cannot be an effective tool without this.
Remember the term "work together" as an interacting activity. All these elements combined make an Information System but they can never successfully be WORKING TOGETHER when there is no proper INTERACTION, when there is no NETWORK that keeps each collection in touch with each other.
That's right! The sixth element of an Information System is a Network!
Thus, the Information System are composed of six elements:
- Hardware
- Software
- Data
- People
- Procedures
- Network
What I know on Managers
We only had one INTRICT meeting on our Week 5 in school. Apparently, Typhoon Frank's strength was so powerful that the College also had to cancel classes.
Back to the topic. We all made our powerpoints about our interview with a Operational and Tactical Manager but only two groups will present and will be selected via drawlots. Only one group was able to present and that was Sherv's group. I still wonder up to this day if the drawlots were fixed or not because Sherv had Jet and Jet was Sir Oli's favorite student. lol. The other group (DC's group) volunteered instead but wasn't able to finish their report well because of the little amount of time left.
Anyways, I don't really remember the full knowledge of how a Operational and Tactical Manager differ from each other. but all I know is:
- Tactical Managers plan short-term effective plans. Thus, Tactics
- Operational Managers ensure that every department and it's employees are doing their job
- Operational Managers also make sure that when they do their job, they do it well and has an effective positive output in the end. They make sure of it by collecting reports from each department/area head

What I Learned in PERSEF1
2.) I've learned a lot in PERSEF1 like choosing a career, etiquette, what certain gestures mean in certain countries, what is Love, and a lot more. There are too many to mention, there are just so many things you can learn from PERSEF.
Leadership Style
According to Wikipedia, the word leadership can refer to:
- Those entities that perform one or more acts of leading.
- The ability to affect human behavior so as to accomplish a mission.
- Influencing a group of people to move towards its goal setting or goal achievement. (Stogdill 1950)
I feel I have all three whenever I become a leader I just have to balance them both and learn when to be nice or to make them disciplined.
Career Interview
Fine! If you really can't read the questions well then I'll re type them for you guys
I interviewed one of the store watchers of an Internet shop near my home. I only know him of "Kuya Jun". He graduated with a similar Degree Program that I'm currently taking here in La Salle.
1. What is the nature of your career and job?
- Kuya Jun's daily tasks are to ensure to turn on all the computer's in the morning and all of them off at closing time. He also says that he's tasks too are to check if each computer unit and all it's peripherals are functioning well or else he will repair it and that he will assist a client in need when he/she is having a hard time to operate the the computer or if something happens to it. What's very stressful for him is when he receives complicated technical problem and when he has to reformat, reprogram or clean every computer unit.
2. What are the skills/interest that made you choose your job?
- "Nahilig ko computers, feeling ko nasa Tech side career ko" this was Kuya Jun's reply. He mentioned it was his interest in the fast changing technology that fascinated him to the IS field he even mentioned that his good problem-solving skills might even enhance in this field.
3. What do you like and dislike about your job?
- He just didn't like about noisy dirty mouthed youth playing on his net shop and very complicated technical problems but above all that, he just likes his job just the way it is.
4. What did you learn in College which is most helpful now?
- Kuya Jun mentions: "Matututo ka kung paano at ano gagawin mo under pressure then dun nag improve ang thinking skills ko sa pagsosolve ng problema tulad ng pag aayos ng sirang unit or whatever tapos dun ko din natutunan ang mga technical na bagay".
5. Given a chance, would you change your job?
- Kuya Jun says if it would, it would still be job relating to his job field.
6. In one/two sentences how will you summarize your current sense of accomplishment? What factors lead you to feel this way?
- He mentions that all he has learned wasn't a waste because he gets to apply it and mentions that someday he will no longer be a net shop assistant but something bigger and related to his field. He's very thankful he still gets to use what he learned.
Career Goals and Plans

The image on the first side are lines found on a PCB or electronic board, adjacent are institutions like government offices, then below is the third which are groups of information, then last to it is a laptop. MY career goals and plans for now is to become a successful IS professional, one who is able to integrate Information and Technology together.
Ever since I was little I already loved computers and I believe it's this that will bring my career to success.
Lasallian Citizen Watch
- The amount of work I've received has caused to me sleep at unbelievable time of nights. Yes this is college and that's the way it is but I've fallen ill of fever because of stress and lack of sleep. It happened twice this year already and one I just recently recovered in. My body resistance can't stand a lot of work that I unexpectedly get fatigues and headaches which frequently becomes fever.
2. What is your proposed solution to this problem?
- I'm in the stage of development. I try to keep my time managed as well as possible, and I try to keep my body as fit and strong as it can be against stress judging the amount of work that I get and the distance that I travel from my house to La Salle every school day.
3. As an active citizen in De La Salle , what do you commit yourself to do so that this school would become an ideal school?
- Apply the La Sallian values of Faith, Zeal, and Community by heart and by soul to show that a La Sallian is a God loving fellow ready to serve for the people and for the country.

Describing Love
According to Wikipedia, Love represents a range of emotions and experiences related to the senses of affection and sexual attraction. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure to intense interpersonal attraction.
Love cannot solely be completely described in words, cannot solely be completely depicted from the emotions and actions of a person but from both words, emotions, and actions simultaneously done.
So what really is Love? It's that MUSHY feeling inside of you that softens your emotions whenever infatuated by something remarkably beautiful like seeing an attractive person of the opposite sex and you start losing attention of the real world and just for a while, you start feeling butterflies in your stomach as you gaze at that pretty look. Having that kind of feeling, all I can say is, "YES! You are in love!!".
Love is that extraordinary sympathy and care you feel about a certain someone may it be your significant other, your friend, your family, or any other person. You love them so much that you are willing to do anything, to suffer anything, and to sacrifice something just for their sake,
That's like what Jesus did to us when he died on the cross, He sacrificed his life to save us from sin. Why? Because he LOVES us so much.

The Campus Behavior
After passing by the place and staying for an amount of time for days sometimes together with a fellow Agno observer, this are what I (and the others) have observed.
5 Negative Traits:
1. The very obvious, Many La Sallians are smokers! Mahilig mag YB! Yosi Break!

2. In this place you can hear a lot of La Sallistas swearing. Censored! Bleep! Bleep! Toooot!
3. PDA which stands for "Public Display of Affection" not the device, not the Dental Org, and ofcourse not the Dream Academy.
4. Pushy! Especially when Agno Lane gets really crowded.
5. Not falling in line! There's no line order on the food stalls! Unahan na lang at swertihan!

2. Reunion Time. Observing the people at Agno. I spotted a lot of people who haven't talked for a while or haven't seen each other for a long time. Then they meet each other again in Agno. Nangangamusta at nag-uusap. Sometimes they go YB together and/or get some food or drinks in Agno or just hang out for a while and reminisce. ♫♪ Reunited and it feels so good ♪♫
3. Friendly to the sellers. Who wouldn't? hehe. Your the ones who buy the "Budgety" foods from them and they make it taste and look good for you! haha
4. Bonding. Just like reunion. You get to bond with one or more blockmates or schoolmates and a lot of them you can see in Agno. Either foodtrip, YB, or just making tambay to kill the time.
5. No Littering. No trashes on the ground. Just all debris and big bumpy rocks. Because there are a lot of trashcans on the side of Agno. You won't see anyone throw their trash just anywhere. They would really find the nearest trash bin and dispose it there.

Enterprise!
*I don't have a week 3. I think there was no post assigned for week 3.
I learned that:
1. China is to blame for the increase of prices of rice and oil! China talaga oh! Joke
2. To Sir Oli, Announcing that there will be a test 5 minutes before the actual is not a surprise quiz since he still announced it 5 MINUTES before the test
3. That wherever there's a McDo, Jollibee will also build one near it. Although it never went vice versa
4. Watch out for Sir Oli's "Announced" quizzes so be always prepared. Study! Especially in advance!
Hahaha but that's not all, we would ofcourse learn something new, And when I mean that something relating to our course duh. Okay so we took this "Announced" test from Sir Oli and the contents weren't familiar to most of us. It was about Computer Enterprising, Business Units, etc... And since the majority got a Single Digit Score, The test wasn't graded. Pinagbigyan kami. *cough* *cough*. So there's nothing to be shy about and I'm proud to say I got nothing but a big fat SIX!! haha.
So what did we learn? After the test there was ample amount of time for Sir Oli to teach us the contents he put in the test. And he continued it on our following meeting. And here I learned the Basic Structure/Chart of a business organization. I will no longer get confused about job positions and their levels. The President or CEO (Chief Executive Officer) is the highest position in the structure and under it are three more chiefs: We have the CFO (Chief Financial Officer), The COO (Chief Operations Officer), and ofcourse the pride of the IT industry, The CIO (Chief Informations Officer).
And this is where the nine units come to the picture. Under the CFO is the Accounting and Finance Department with a VP to lead it, under the CIO is the IT Department also led by another VP. Here it is. It's the COO that has the remaining seven units/departments under it. That's quite a lot! Each ofcourse, is ran by a VP of it's own. The following departments are: Human Resources (HR), Engineering/Product Development, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, Distribution, and Customer Service.
Well this is what I've learned so far. I'm still not sure exactly what the specific responsibilities of each units are. That's why their being taught to us right? hahaha... I'm gonna go study about and that and probably put them on my next INTRICT adventure... I mean post...

Symbolism: How did this symbolize the La Sallian in me? Well here's our group's explanation. We united our clay man's by making them hold hands and form a circle to represent "One La Salle". Our MUTANT clay men symbolize that La Sallians are a variety of people with different background, culture, and characteristics. But despite the differences, there's still unity within the individuals. That's the La Sallian in us. We're different from each other but still "UNITED". \m/

To start off my first official PERSEF blog post I will answer the questions from our HANDSOME Prof, Mr. Cabredo! :))
1. Who are you?
- Hahaha what a first question! My name is Angelo Abraham P. Arnaldo, you can call me "Gelo"
2. Strengths and Weaknesses
- I consider my humor, hyperactiveness or rather lively personality, and my little outgoingness as my strengths. Though when stacked up with work I get SOUPED! As in "SABAW". Also, my short attention span and lack of eagerness to work hard are what I what I thin are my weakness. But I still am the type that wants all the work to be accurately and completely done. Another weakness that I have is that I hate getting emotional, I can't really get to say all that I want because of that reason but there are times that I can't take it anymore or something else similar that it makes me become what I hate, getting emotional but sometimes it's because of that I can consider that it as a Strength whenever the result is positive (For Ex. Confessing what you feel to your parents and they suddenly understood you well).
3. Why DLSU? Why ICTM?
- Why La Salle? Well, since I was a little kid, I wanted to be in La Salle already maybe it's because of family influence. Then time passed by and I still wanted DLSU, then I found out that the course I wanted was approved for excellence in La Salle. Coincidence at it's best. haha. Why ICTM? I loved computers a lot when I was kid and until now of course. hehe. I chose ICTM cause it matches my interests. Plus, IT dudes make a lot of money in their field! hahaha

I.T. Job Recruitment Analysis
As another assignment on our INTRICT, we were told to find 25 IT job postings. We should know what are the technical skills, non-technical skills, and responsibilities that companies expect from an IT Professional. Here are graphs that show the most demanded technical skills and other traits, the y-axis on the graph shows the number of companies (25 companies) who favor the current trait. (The items on the graph are only those that are mostly chosen by the companies so the topic would not be too broad):


1. Technical Graph:
- The graph shows that more companies look for those with good skills with SQL then next is both Visual Basic and UNIX
- The fewest was both COBOL and Java. Geez! Why bother teaching us Java then? :))
- This the graph that shows both the responsibilities and the non-technical skills.
- The most dominant trait companies are looking for is being able to speak and write English well
- What lands on the second most searched trait is becoming willing to work anywhere or willing to travel to any place. Of course the travel has to bee work related! hahaha
- Analytical thinking and being able to adjust with the work schedule both come in at third place. The person must know how to analyze and think of a way to solve a problem. He must also be able to adjust whenever his work schedule has to be changed, especially in terms of having a night shift.

Gmail, What About It?

Our first INTRICT class was just an orientation from the prof and an introduction to the Syllabus. Our prof, Mr. Oli Malabanan told us to make a Gmail account with the format "lastname.firstname" and to make a blogspot using the e-mail (Voila! Your looking at it!). This will serve as the communication medium between us students and Sir Oli. But why
Gmail? Why not Yahoo? Our prof answered that questions and more during our 2nd meeting last Wednesday.
So really, why Gmail? Is there anything else incredible in there rather than a built in chat and a humongous storage? By just listening to what the prof says about Gmail, and after that by refering to their guide site: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=5900&hl=en , I knew more stuff about Gmail that I didn't even know:
- Gmail Search is just like Google Search and the only difference is that aside from searching for websites, you search for your e-mail messages. Aside from browsing through your e-mail messages, you just have to type any keyword that must be relating to the e-mail message your looking for and hit "search" and the next thing you know, you've found it!
- Messages and the replies their related in (including replies to those replies and so on) are stacked into one group. These are called the Conversation View. They avoid users not to waste their time looking for a message that contains the reply of the contact whom received the message. As replies relating to one message increase, so does the Conversation Message. If anytime the user wants to view separately each message of the conversation, he just needs to go to the settings and expand it. Convenient right? Guess you don't need to get bothered about individual related messages flooding the whole list anymore
- You don't need to setup Google Talk to use it. Gmail already has built-in chat application (like what I said earlier in this post). Heck! You can even reply your e-mail messages with chat! Just make sure they're online though... hahaha... All the chats are archived just like e-mail messages, making them also searchable and to avoid to lose any essential information... Nice! This really isn't like YM where current chats are only saved and get deleted upon logging off except to avoid that from happening, you have to save it manually for a permanent copy.
- There's an alternative organizing method for e-mail messages rather than through folders, Gmail has thought of a new way to organize them, through labels. Users can label a message with even more than one label plus they can browse/search for the label their looking for. For example, the user can label his message as either work related, family related, or even both! Then they can also create filters for auto managing of incoming mail.
- They have a digital organizer and calendar to keep you up to date to your scheduled activities. You can merge organizers with a contact to view the contents of their organizers along with yours. You can even choose which contact can view or which contact can modify your organizer. You can even make schedules and invite contacts so they can be involved. For example: Scheduled party or meeting.
- At first I thought Google Earth was completely out of Gmail's way. But with Google Earth you can track the place you want to see or go or even track the place of your scheduled activity. You can also mark frequently visited sites in the world.
- Gmail makes bookmarking favorite websites to your browsers a thing of yesterday. Cause now, Gmail can do that with their own bookmark program. Not only can you bookmark your favorite website, you can tag them to different related terms if you want. Plus, when you're in another pc, you cannot view the links that you saved on your browser bookmark but with Google Bookmarks, the bookmarks are still available for the user
- Google Document is just like Microsoft Word. It has all features in it. You can even make 2 or more contacts edit your message at the same time.
- High memory capacity (and it's getting higher). Unlike Yahoo!, Gmail has a higher memory capacity. For now, I think it's 1 GB
- And last but not the least, It's FREE!!

Introductory Post
I will be updating the designs of my site once I get my PC fixed by a professional technician since this time, I can't seem to fix it! hahaha... Hopefully by the end of the week I will get it fixed and design my blogspot site. This laptop I'm using for the meantime has too small requirements to do such task and my PC has programs that I need to be able to design my site. Besides, this is my mom's laptop and she doesn't need a very big requirement to do her offfice work.
Well, Ciao! This is all I have to say for now! By next week this site is already PIMPED! Hahaha...
